WAVE is a classroom based youth development program that may be used as character education, dropout prevention, and/or as a school to work transition strategy for high school students. Trained teachers incorporate the WAVE curriculum into their lessons once a week. Lessons include topics such as personal assessment, communication skills, conflict resolution, planning for your future and setting goals. Specific goals of the WAVE program at White Station: · To improve academic performance of the target population· To decrease absenteeism within the target population· To improve communication and leadership skills ofthe target population· To facilitate goal setting and planning for the future· To create a climate in which all learners are engaged and excited about learning Candy Smith, Counselor White Station High School 514 South Perkins 901-416-7917
