Rev. Billy Kyles to Speak to the Alpha Team

30 01 2008

On Wednesday, Feb. 6, Rev. Billy Kyles will kick off Black History month at White Station High School by speaking about his experiences in the Civil Rights Movement.  He will speak to the Spartan Academy Alpha Team (students who have Ms. Farris for English) in the auditorium at 9:00 AM.

The Facing History staff will also talk about the Facing History and Ourselves course offered at White Station.  We hope that many members of the Alpha Team will select this course for their sophomore year.

The WAVE Leadership Team will host a reception for Rev. Kyles after his presentation.  Parents are invited.

BASKETBALL HOMECOMING 2008

28 01 2008

Basketball Homecoming, 2008, will be Friday evening, Feb. 1 in the White Station Palace.  The basketball teams will hit the court to beat the Cardinals from Wooddale High School.

Students at WSHS are excited about dressing up in the days leading up to Basketball Homecoming, 2008.

·         On Tuesday students dressed in outfits reminiscent of the 1980s.  We saw headbands, Spandex tights under exercise outfits, leg-warmers and other styles from twenty years ago.

·         Prep school get-up filled the halls on Wednesday.  Students dressed in argyle sweaters, button down collared shirts  loafers – too cool!

·         Thursday was “Class Distinction” day where freshmen dressed as fictional characters, sophomores looked like geeks, juniors became hippies and seniors were clad as the royalty they are – kings, queens, princes, etc.

·         Friday we all showed our school spirit by dressing in the traditional Spartan colors – green and gray.  “Aren’t you glad to be a Spartan?  Yes, we are!”

Come out on Friday evening and see the Homecoming Queen crowned and enjoy basketball in the Palace.
