Greetings Super Spartans!!
I just wanted to share something that we are doing in our Keyboarding Classes to help get us in the holiday spirit. We have been teamed up with elementary schools across the United States, England, and Canada to become “Santa” to these students. These students write a letter to Santa. The teacher from that school sends the letters to me via e-mail. I then distribute the letters to my high school Keyboarding class. This is where the fun begins!! This year, we have letters that are being sent from England, Canada, North Dakota, Kentucky, and Missouri. I first give a brief history of the city where these students live. That way my students can visualize where these students live, so that they can add some extra tidbits in their letters back to the elementary school students. My student “Santas” then type a letter back to these elementary school students. I encourage the students to use creative fonts, colors, pictures, etc. to make the letters more lively and filled with the Holiday Spirit. The students are given ideas as to what to write in their letters. Once the students have composed their letters, I then send the letters back to the elementary schools to be distributed back to the students. My goal is not only to encourage my students to get their creative juices flowing, but to show the importance of making a difference in the life of a child.
Here is an exmple of one of the letters…..
Dear Santa,
Are you going to come down the chimney?
I will leave you delicious cookies for you.
I would like to have a Pokémon Ds game. please Santa! Are there hundreds of elves there?
Is Bambi doing good? Did you marry Mrs.? I love you Santa!
Your friend,
Brooklyn!
Dear Brooklyn,
Yes I will come down your chimney on Christmas Eve night, if you are sound asleep in your bed. I will also eat those delicious cookies you’re going to leave me. Uhmmmm, it’s like I can taste them right now. I got your letter and it says you want a Pokémon DS game. I will try my very best to get you that game because I’ve been watching you and you have been such a good girl.
Yes I have hundreds of elves here. They are very helpful too. They are going to help me get you that Pokémon game you wanted. Bambi is doing awesome. He says hello, and to continue being good as you are doing. And yes, I did get married to Mrs. Clause. I am very happy with her, she such a sweet heart just like you. Well I have to get back to work now so I will see you asleep on Christmas Eve night.
I Love you Tooooo!!!!!!!!!
Love Always,
Santa Claus

Hey Spartan Freshman! I found this great article by Money Mitch with with Associated Content that I think will help you on your first day of school here at White Station High School. Just remember, we are all here to help you, so don’t hesitate to ask a teacher for help. See you soon!

Freshman year is a very rewarding, but also a nerve wrecking experience. The leap from middle school to high school is a very scary thing, but you have to remember that you were nervous on the first day of every other grade as well. However, high school is a completely different system than middle school because it is much more complex. For all you freshman out there that are reading this and can’t keep your mind from racing, you guys need to relax. It’s really not as bad as it seems, and you already have a jump start on all of your freshman class because you have chosen your classes. If you use the information in this article I promise you that after the first week of high school you’ll be laughing at how nervous you were.
Your first day of high school is going to be one giant rush. In the morning you will get dropped off most likely by one of your parents. No matter how embarrasing this seems, just remember that the other 90% of your freshman class is getting to school in the same way. Next you will probably gather in the gym or in an area where the Freshman class will gather. Don’t forget to be in your school uniform and arrive to school on time. You will then go to your homeroom. Your homeroom location should be listed on a wall to show you where to go. During homeroom, you will be given your schedule. If you have trouble finding your first class building, DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK . If your going to a new school, or just do not have many friends, don’t sweat it.

Thanks to all the freshman who attended orientation Tuesday and Wednesday. We enjoyed meeting you and working with you. You seem like a great group of 9th graders.
We hope you accomplished all three of the orientation goals:
- You learned something about White Station High School.
- You met someone new.
- You had fun.
We can hardly wait to see you on August 10. Enjoy your last two weeks of leisure. Get your summer reading done. Be here bright and early on August 10.
We will blog to you about where to go – probably to the East gym or the Senior gym.
